Can you cook rice in the microwave?

Believe it or not, cooking rice in the microwave is possible. In fact, there are many foods that can be heated in the microwave ranging from broccoli, to corn on the cob to s’mores. From heating leftovers to defrosting frozen foods to steaming fish, consult your owner’s manual to find out how to get the most out of your microwave.

Place your rice in a microwave-safe container with a loose-fitting lid. If your microwave is equipped with the Whirlpool® Microwave Steam Cooking feature, your job just became easier. The sensor will detect when the liquid reaches a boil, prompting the Steam or Simmer countdown. Be sure to keep the lid on while the container is in the microwave, as a rush of steam could alter the sensor readings.
