New models with the same dimensions: measure your existing washer and dryer sizes
You’re familiar with how your current laundry pair fits your space, so it may be simplest to measure your existing washer and dryer to discover the ideal dimensions for your new set. Follow the three steps below to measure your washer and dryer.
Width: Using your measuring tape, measure the width of your washer and dryer from left to right.
Height: Next, measure the height of your washer and dryer from top to bottom.
Depth: Lastly, measure the depth of your washer and dryer from front to back.
New models for a new or updated laundry space: measure your layout
The laundry room in a new home or a renovated space is uncharted territory, so it’s important to carefully measure the space before committing to a new laundry pair. Follow the steps below to measure your new space.
Width: Use a measuring tape to measure the width of your laundry space from wall to wall. For flexibility, add one inch to your width measurement for buffer space between each side wall. To help minimize noise when your appliances are set in place, account for a one-inch gap between the appliances.
Height: Next, measure the height of your space from floor to ceiling. You’ll need at least enough space to accommodate the height of your laundry pair, from appliance feet to the top of the control panel, plus an extra two feet to ensure easy loading and unloading of top load units.
- Depth: Measure the depth from one wall or doorway to the opposite wall where your appliances will go. Be mindful to add about six inches to your depth measurements to account for hoses and venting in the back of the appliance. For front load, add approximately four feet to allow for extra space to load and unload laundry. If you place the appliances inside a closet, make sure the closet doors can fully open and close without obstruction.
