Before you start shopping for wall ovens, it’s important to check the dimensions you’ll need so you get the right fit for your kitchen.
Not sure how to get started? Our guide can help you learn more about single, double and combination wall oven dimensions, as well as cabinet sizes and more so you can choose the right size wall oven for you and your family.
What are standard wall oven sizes?
Most standard single, double and microwave combination wall ovens are categorized as 24, 27 or 30 inches wide. These tend to be approximations with the exact measurements varying slightly depending on the model and style. The depth and height are about the same regardless of width.
Whirlpool brand offers single wall ovens, double wall ovens, or combo wall oven and microwaves with varying capacities and dimensions. The most important size to consider may be the cabinet opening or cutout you will need for installation. The wall oven size will be slightly smaller to fit inside the cabinet. Here are some common wall oven cutout dimensions:

How do I measure my current wall oven cutout dimensions?
Step 1: Remove your current wall oven
If your current wall oven is still installed in your cutout or cabinet, remove it so you can measure the space. This will ensure you get the most accurate measurements.
Step 2: Measure the standard wall oven cutout width
Standard wall oven sizes are 24, 27 or 30 inches wide. Measure the width of the cutout from the left inside cabinet edge to the right inside cabinet edge using a measuring tape to determine what size appliance will fit.
Step 3: Measure the wall oven cutout depth
Measure from the wall to the front of the cabinet face, excluding the cabinet door to record your wall oven cutout depth. Most standard cabinets are 24 inches deep.
Step 4: Measure the oven cutout height
Measure from the top of the cutout opening to the bottom to record the height of your wall oven cutout. The height will vary significantly between a single wall oven and a double wall oven.
Wall Oven Sizes: Common Questions
How much space do you need to open a wall oven?
An open wall oven door will add about 20 to 24 inches in depth. Plan for a 42 to 48 inch door clearance in front of your wall oven in order to comfortably maneuver around the space while cooking. Consider this especially if you have a galley kitchen or an island opposite your wall oven.
What size cabinet do you need for a 30-inch wall oven?
A 30-inch wall oven may require a cabinet size that’s approximately 33 inches wide. A general rule of thumb is to add an extra 3 inches wider than the wall oven. For instance, with a 27-inch wall oven, you’ll want around a 30-inch cabinet size.
Can you put a wall oven under a countertop?
A single wall oven can fit under a countertop. With the standard kitchen countertop height around 36 inches, one thing to consider is that a single wall oven height is approximately 27¼ to 28 inches. This will leave you with extra space either above or below the wall oven, which could fit a drawer.

Are all single wall ovens the same size?
Single wall ovens vary in size. They are usually 24, 27 or 30 inches wide with a height of 27 to 28 inches and depth of 22 to 24 inches. The capacity is usually 2 to 3.5 cubic feet of cooking space for the 24-inch-wide models and 4 to 5 cubic feet capacity for the 27- or 30-inch models.
What if my current wall oven cutout is too small or too large?
If your cabinet opening is larger than the size of a new Whirlpool® wall oven, a FIT (Flexible Installation) System may help fill minor gaps. A cabinet opening that is too small will require cabinet modifications. A better choice may be to opt for a smaller wall oven size to avoid renovations.
